Noctuidae larva
In early spring, I found a caterpillar of the Noctuidae family on the freshly sprouting leaves of an Arakashi (evergreen oak). I observed it with a magnifying glass and made a detailed drawing. The right side is reddish because it began to change color midway and entered the prepupal stage. Since it is still in the prepupal stage, I have not been able to identify the species yet, so the title can only say “Noctuidae larva” for now. If all goes well, it will emerge as an adult moth, and I will be able to determine the species name. (At that point, I will update the title.) This work will be exhibited and available for sale at “Suzuko’s Caterpillar Exhibition,” held from April 23 to May 7, 2026 at the bookstore “Chienamiki” in Tsuruga City.
